“Even on the darkest of day, don’t lose hope.  You never know what tomorrow brings.”

Needing some prayers again for our cat, Gabby. She started acting strangely on Tuesday, hissing and not wanting to be touched. By the end of the night, she peed all over Spencer’s office chair and pooped on the floor. Spencer left her laying on the living room rug when he went to bed. She was no where to be found yesterday morning, and we haven’t seen her since. We’ve both looked everywhere we can think of … read more

“My religion is very simple.  My religion is kindness.”

So last night, someone posted a supposed quote by the recently deceased Paul Walker …

It’s the kind of quote that really ticked me off, to the extent that I started writing before sitting so I could calm the mind … (and practice kindness LOL) ….

Here’s the quote …

“I’m a Christian now .. I go surfing and snow boarding and I’m always around nature. I look at everything and think: Who couldn’t believe there’s a God? Is all this a mistake? It just blows me away.”
~ Paul Walker (maybe)

“When I admire the wonders of a sunrise or the beauty of the moon, my soul expands in the worship of the creator.”
~ Mahatma Gandhi

What a beautifully clear morning here on St. Thomas.

As I sat this morning, my meditation was filled with a touch of sadness. The beginning of December always brings memories of my brother’s passing, 22 years ago. And sadly, yesterday also marked the passing of actor Paul Walker, known for his lead role in The Fast & The Furious. How odd that he too would die in a car accident. I guess God needed another brilliant angel … read more

“My idea of absolute happiness is to be in bed on a rainy day, with my blankie, my cat, and my dog.”

How did we live without Google ??

Spencer’s college roommate arrived yesterday for a week at the villa, to celebrate his 50th birthday.

And since the moment he arrived its been “Raining cats & dogs”.

Where in the world did that phrase come from … ?

It seems more accurate than the weather forecast which talked about surface cutoff lows, whatever that means … read more

“Once again, we come to the Holiday Season, a deeply religious time that each of us observes, in his own way, by going to the mall of his choice.”

Sorry to have another dreary picture for you this morning friends. I had to wait 2 hours just to get this picture and to see the BVI’s. The days have been clearing nicely, but these AM showers have made me want to stay in bed !!

So most of us will be shopping this weekend. Black Friday, Cyber Monday. Time to empty our pocketbooks, right ?!? read more

Good day friends … I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving !! We sure did . My Internet is down this morning, so I’ll keep it short as I’m posting via phone . Today’s message is again on attitude …

“A positive attitude can add sunshine to even the darkest of days.”

“For today and its blessings, I owe the world an attitude of gratitude.”

Happy Thanksgiving friends. To quote Ralph Waldo Emerson: “I awoke this morning with devout thanksgiving for my friends, the old and the new”. I appreciate your readership more than you know …

And today, I’d like to share below a beautiful message from an old friend. We’ve only met once, but he’s been a penpal for most of my life. Matt’s words speak to me of the true meaning of Thanksgiving. I hope he doesn’t mind my sharing read more

Good morning friends. During my yoga teacher training, when it came to studying the yamas and niyamas, we were divided up into pairs. And were assigned one of each to research and discuss. This meant I spent time thoroughly contemplating 4 of the ideals with my partner.

Today’s Yama – Asteya, or non-stealing – was not one of them. read more

“Its all about perspective, that is how you look at things. Your own thoughts and outlook defines whether an experience, event, situation whatever is good or bad. And your definition determines your response.”

It’s a squally Monday here on the north shore of St. Thomas today. No visible sunrise, that’s for sure !! But I was able to sit for 15 minutes or so before a driving rain storm forced me inside.

I decided to continue on with my meditation on Yoga’s “Ten Commandments”. As opposed to the Christian “Thou Shalt Not”, I’ve always appreciated Patanjali’s Yogic framework, which puts things in the positive: “Thou shall strive to” or the Yamas and Niyamas. read more
