“Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.”
~ Viktor E. Frankl

I sat with interest under our partly cloudy skies this morning. I had a fitful night’s sleep, mind was busy, cats were oddly huddled up next to me, then around 3AM a strong windstorm blew through, and shook the house. I got up, and browsed the web via Stumble Upon … My favorite tool for “counting sheep”. I was grateful for the clouds, as I knew they would allow me an extra half hours sleep. read more

“I see skies of blue, and clouds of white … The bright blessed day, dark sacred night … And I think to myself ….. What a wonderful world”
~ Louis Armstrong

Ah yes, I’m feeling back to my chipper self this morning after a day of rest. I was up before my alarm, and am feeling very inspired. And I just can’t keep that song out of my head, even though my skies aren’t very blue …

The first thing I came across on my FB scroll this morning was a quote by Abe Lincoln … read more

So today, I officially missed the sunrise. My iphone is there beside my bed, but I obviously didn’t set it. I awoke to the scream of two seagull, and my cats going nuts … Namaste peeping in this own unique way: “Peep-Peep” … “Wake Up”!

I went and lay back down. Oh, if you could only hear the chatter that was going on inside my head … read more

Happy Sunday and Happy Father’s Day!  And wow is it HAZY this morning! Thanks to Spencer for teaching me the secrets to manually focus our camera, as it was having a real tough time on auto focus.  It almost looks like I’ve photographed the moon ?!?

As I sat this morning, I was thinking through my move yesterday.  I’ll share some lessons tomorrow, because I’m not done sorting through it all, which means that I’m sure more lessons will appear. read more

~ Edwin Way Teale

I’ve been waiting here for an hour, hoping for these clouds to clear out today, but I don’t think it’s going to happen. So I’ll try to at least make my words cheery …

Speaking of clearing out, today I’m headed to vacate my storage unit. It’s the remaining junk and records from my computer business. Last year, I consolidated 40,000 cubic feet of stuff down into 1,500 cubic feet. Today, I hope to half that. read more

Take time to smell the flowers,
Take time to hug a tree,
Take time to hear each bird sing,
Take time to simply be !!

It’s another hazy morning here on St. Thomas, with our Sahara dust in full force today. So as the sun struggled to make it’s entrance, which wasn’t grand, I stopped to smell the frangipane growing on my hillside. It’s scent is like a soft gardenia.

And as a result, I’m learning all kinds of things this morning!

Did you know that in common folklore the frangipane, or Plumeria, is believed to provide shelter to ghosts and demons? The scent of the Plumeria has been associated with a vampire in Malay folklore, the pontianak, spirits of woman who died while pregnant. Humm …. Now I’m going to spook myself in the nights to come LOL .. read more
