You are me, and I am you.
Isn’t it obvious that we “inter-are”?
You cultivate the flower in yourself,
so that I will be beautiful.
I transform the garbage in myself,
so that you will not have to suffer.
I support you;
you support me.
I am in this world to offer you peace;
you are in this world to bring me joy.
~ Thich Nhat Hanh
It’s probably no surprise that I awoke this morning, thinking of dependent origination. As I sat awaiting the quiet sunrise, and studied the rocks below, they became dependent upon the sea, dependent upon the skies, dependent upon the trees. Spencer joined me for a bit. He sounds like he is catching a cold. Will I catch a cold? There is not one thing I can think of that doesn’t intertwine.
“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing. To keep our faces toward change and behave like free spirits in the presence of fate is strength undefeatable.”
~ Helen Keller
The morning skies held alot of energy in them. I almost felt like Zeus -with his big thunderbolt – might appear out of the clouds at any second! Zeus, the strong and fearless …. Known by the Greeks as the god of justice and mercy, the protector of the weak, and the punisher of the wicked. His bird the eagle, his tree the oak.
“In the magical universe there are no coincidences and there are no accidents. Nothing happens unless someone wills it to happen.”
~ William S. Burroughs
It’s wonderful waking up to a clean home, a beautiful sunrise, and fresh trade winds again, as we begin another work week!
So I’ve been postponing making final plans for a short spring break. No reason really, just didn’t feel inspired to set the dates in stone quite yet. And magically, it seems that Spencer has an opportunity to do a boat delivery with a good friend, make a little money, and free passage up to the states. As for myself, I remained undecided …

What is non-self, Anatta (Pali)? It means impermanence. If things are impermanent, they don’t remain the same things forever. You of this moment are no longer you of a minute ago. There is no permanent entity within us, there is only a stream of being.
This is a very profound teaching of the Buddha. For instance, looking into a flower, you can see that the flower is made of many elements that we can call non-flower elements.
When you touch the flower, you touch the cloud. You cannot remove the cloud from the flower, because if you could remove the cloud from the flower, the flower would collapse right away.
You don’t have to be a poet in order to see a cloud floating in the flower, but you know very well that without the clouds there would be no rain and no water for the flower to grow.
“The first days of spring … The season of renewal when the earth sheds its winter cloak, flowers bloom, and the heart feels as though everything is once again imaginable.”
~ Galen Watson
How quickly the sun rose yesterday, and how slowly it rose just a day later, behind many layers of thin clouds. I was grateful for the extra time in stillness. The moon, a tiny sliver in the sky, eventually disappeared from sight. A nearly invisible cloud brought the lightest of sprinkles. A morning dove cooed somewhere in the background. Two birds had a tiff off in the distance. The cats played down in the grass below.
“When your energy vibrates at a frequency that is in direct alignment with what the universe has been attempting to deliver your entire life, you begin to live in the flow and true miracles start to happen.”
~ Panache Desai
The sun rose quickly and brilliantly this morning. And as I repeated my metta mantra, I gave thanks to my teachers, and I expressed gratitude for the people that I encountered in my journeys yesterday.
It had been quite a while since I’d left the house. Two weeks I think. It was nice to be out, surrounded by people. When I used to take my walk to the bank, I was often enveloped in thought, turned inward, or chatting with a friend who would accompany me. Locals would sometimes tell me to smile … I was pretty serious back in those days, but I was carrying a heavy load. I still carry a heavy load, but I’ve handed any troubles over to my higher powers. Rarely are there troubles in the now, if I keep myself focused there, creating. Yesterday, I simply felt in the flow, open to what lay before me. And everyone in my path smiled, each clerk behind the desk was friendly, helpful, and offered kind words upon departing. Pretty miraculous …..
