“Time always seems long to the child who is waiting – for Christmas, for next summer, for becoming a grownup: long also when he surrenders his whole soul to each moment of a happy day. ”

It was with patience that I sat for this photograph today. My coffee grew cold, and even my cat gave up trying to tell me it was time for breakfast.

My heart told me that the divine would not let me down. Light would break through the thick clouds. More would be shown to me, if I had the patience, only but to wait. read more

“The world is moved along, not only by the mighty shoves of its heroes, but also by the aggregate of tiny pushes of each honest worker.”

The tail end of ‘winter storm Virgil’ is upon us this morning, with brisk breezes and churned up seas. St. John looks to have gotten some much needed rain yesterday, although we got barely a dribble here on Peterborg. I hope it clears up for all of my friends who are out boating or beaching it this holiday weekend !! read more

The world needs people
Who cannot be bought;
Whose word is their bond;
Who put character above wealth;
Who possess opinions and a will;
Who are larger than their vocations;
Who do not hesitate to take chances;
Who will not lose their individuality in a crowd;
Who will be as honest in small things as in great things;
Who will make no compromise with wrong;
Whose ambitions are not confined to their own selfish desires;
Who will not say they do it ”because everybody else does it;”
Who are true to their friends through good report and evil report, in adversity as well as prosperity;
Who do not believe that shrewdness, cunning, and hardheadedness are the best qualities for winning success;
Who are not ashamed or afraid to stand for the truth when it is unpopular;
Who can say ”no” with emphasis, although all the rest of the world says ”yes”.

Happy Good Friday everyone! I hope this finds you preparing for a wonderful holiday weekend. And setting aside even just a few moments in church or in meditation to truly connect with the divine, that which Jesus gave his life for.

Upon waking and watching the warm sunrise this morning, I was drawn to think of my favorite book “Autobiography of a Yogi” written by Paramahansa Yogananda. It was named one of the 100 best spiritual books of the 20th century, and reads almost like a fairy tale. Yogi shares with us his unforgettable story of saints and yogis, science and miracles, death and resurrection. With chapters entitled The Saint with Two Bodies, The Tiger Swami, The Levitating Saint, The Cauliflower Robbery, The Law of Miracles, The Woman Yogi Who Never Eats …. He uses the mystical to open our hearts to all that is possible in this world, and beyond. read more
