“Breaking through your self-imposed barriers (and they are all self-imposed) is the greatest challenge you will ever face.   But face them you must.”
~  Mary-Frances Winters

It’s a beautiful morning here, and I used the little bit of extra time – with the sun slow to shine from behind the clouds – to work with my oracle cards.   To receive my message for the month.    And the message is so clearly depicted in this lovely photo, with the glowing heart of guiding light shining a beam down into the sea, a lone boat heading out with it’s blessing, on some adventure …

Scan 2My guides chose for me the “Whale – Breach” card, who’s message is “It’s time to take a break!”

For many of us, May will usher in the Springtime.   I’m feeling very much the old adage “April showers bring May flowers.”   April was a very challenging month for me, and I am more in need of a break than I’ve ever been.

The card shows a beautiful humpback whale, breaching the surface of the vast ocean.

“This powerful creature of the ocean takes a few great sweeps with his fins and propels himself briefly out of the waters where he spends the majority of his life.  He’s taking a break from the ordinary Earth element in which he lives to exist even for a few moments in the realm of blue skies and sun having broken through the skin of the ocean in a magnificent display of fullness and strength.”

“In this image, the humpback  expresses an almost palpable feeling of release and joy.  Often when we manage to change our environment – to break through illusory blockages – we experience an intense feeling of relief and can let go of any previously held fears and assumptions of what would happen once we did overcome that barrier, whether it’s material, emotional, or mental.”

“It’s time to take a break!   Not just a coffee break, but a respite from the usual environment you find yourself in.  That trip you want to take?  Go for it.  Tired of being indoors?  Make it a point to get outside.  You have become attached to your surroundings that you have created within them an illusion of safety, yet it is not these things that make you feel safe.  Rather, the familiarity you have imbued in your surroundings have generated a false sense of security.”

“Taking time away from the familiar is literally about changing your external environment in a significant way, such as doing something unusual or perhaps something you have always wanted to experience.   Another perspective is breaking through the barriers of beliefs that have constricted you in any way from being who you truly are.  This is an opportunity to do some intentional breaching of these thought patterns, which will open you to different worlds and perspectives.”

I also was called to a secondary card, that of  the “Desert – Vision Quest.”   Interestingly, I drew this card last year in May, when I was also feeling an intense need to get away for a bit !!   I almost took a week to go over to Cinnamon Bay Campground, but the Party Girl crewing job arose instead.   It is said the vision quest card is a very powerful one, and that by drawing it, whatever other messages I have received are amplified threefold …

Fortunately, I already have a trip off-island planned on the 22nd of May to go visit my best friend in Sarasota.

How about you out there?   I’m sensing this card is calling out to you as well.   Take a long weekend to “get out of Dodge.”

But even better, I’m understanding the deeper message here:  Which is to look deeply inside, to do some spring cleaning of the old familiar thought patterns.   To re-arrange the furniture, and put some bright new covers on the those old tired pillows on the couch 🙂

As we move forward in this month, which the astrologers are saying will require alot of truth and honesty, we have an amazing opportunity to let go of fear, to find the true place of security deep inside us all which allows us to be more authentic than we’ve ever been,  so that we can breach into unfamiliar territory, finding the joy as we reach the surface of a brand new life experience.

Happy Sunday friends.   Let the adventure begin!!
