Being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, he answered them, “The kingdom of God is not coming in ways that can be observed, nor will they say, ‘Look, here it is!’ or ‘There!’ for behold, the kingdom of God is in the midst of you.”
~ Jesus – Luke 17 20:21
Over the weekend, I chatted with a friend about dreamboarding. He wasn’t familiar with the term: I explained it much as Napoleon Hill explains it. Dreamboarding is a way to visualize and manifest desire into reality.
On my bucket list dreamboard, he was particularly drawn to a photo of Bora Bora. You know the one … Rows of over-water bungalows, perched on stilts, in a spectacularly tranquil turquoise lagoon.
I always say that when I win the Powerball, Bora Bora and Bali will be my first destinations. But what if tomorrow (and the lottery) never comes? What am I waiting for ??
Two of my favorite yoga instructors – Laura Martini and Matece Skow – both offer retreats to Bali. And yesterday, Matece reported back on her Bali experience ….
I found Matece’s words so incredibly inspiring, I just had to share them with you. I kept repeating them over and over in my mind this morning as I sat staring up at the lofty clouds in the sky.
Matece writes:
Everything I’ve heard about Bali is absolutely true. For me it’s a bit like Disneyland; there’s so much hype about it that it’s easy to doubt that it could possibly be true. But, once there, the magic permeated every cell of my being and I became a believer.
In Disneyland, it was when Mickey Mouse peeked at me through a gift shop window. I was immediately a 4 year old child again, connected with pure joy. In Bali it was when I was praying before entering the purification pools at Tirta Empul and I felt the Love and Presence of God move through my heart. There is no going back from that deepening of faith, that certainty that we are all deeply loved and held in all our imperfection and doubt, in our wholeness and beauty.
That is the gift of Bali. Devotion. Femininity. Healing. Beauty…every where you place your eyes. What I’m bringing back from Bali is the most precious gift: an inner peace that is founded in a direct communion with Love and the newfound awareness of the many small ways I turn my back on Love each and every day. I resolve to stop turning away. I resolve to give my life to the Spirit of Love. That is all.
“The Kingdom of God—of eternal, immutable, ever-newly blissful cosmic consciousness—is within you. Behold your soul as a reflection of the immortal Spirit, and you will find your Self encompassing the infinite empire of God-love, God-wisdom, God-bliss existing in every particle of vibratory creation and in the vibrationless Transcendental Absolute.”
This is the power and the magic of yoga and meditation. Seek spirit from within, not “here nor there”.
Thank you Matece for sharing your heart and devotion with me in January. Your loving-kindness restorative practice still resonates deeply in my heart. There has been a shift.
Today, I am setting an intention that I will join you in Bali. Hopefully in my 51st year.
Resolving to give my own life to the Spirit of Love …
Namaste.
