Marianne Williamson writes:   “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.  Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.   It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.  We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?

Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.

We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

And it’s no surprise to me that today’s sunrise is again very yellow, as I continue my contemplation on the 3rd chakra of the solar plexus!

Dr. Christine Page writes:   “Without a healthy ego, we are easily swayed to follow the views of others, with no sense of personal identity, and this I consider to be a major factor in the causation of most of the diseases of the immune system.”

“To compensate our loss, we seek roles within our family and society that offer an identity which, although superficial, enable us to feel some sense of self worth.  But, unfortunately, when we are only feeding the needs of an inadequately formed personality, and acclaim and reward we receive for our activities, seems to purely skim the surface of a far deeper longing:  The need to find and honour the self within.”

“Often in an attempt to rectify the situation, we take on more work or care for more people, believing this will bring the rewards we desire, but to no avail.  One day, we wake up and realize that we are exhausted, burnt out and still lost.   Only with this realization do we courageously begin the slow and anxiety-provoking process of discarding the garments of our artificial identities to reveal our true nature and a strong sense of self-worth for which we can stand proud.”

Sounding familiar to anyone????

The problem is, our poor sense of self-worth is strongly rooted in our society, and Dr. Paige says we have at least 12,000 years of imbalance working within this chakra, dating as far back to Atlantis.   We are people steeped in approval seeking, shame, and prejudice.

We are unable to establish boundaries, and just as Marianne Williamson says, we fear our own power and shrink behind it.    We play the victim, the martyr or guilt trip others.

In an attempt to balance this chakra, what happens is that we attract people who detect this weakness of low self-esteem.   In their presence, we become exhausted and without awareness, we often seek out sweets, alcohol, etc in the hope to redress the situation.

What are some more constructive ways to deal with low self esteem, to ward off some of the embodied illness that might occur if we don’t take charge of our power?

Resultant Illnesses:
—————–

  • Diabetes (sign we are unable to absorb the sweetness in life”
  • Hypoglycaemia often seen in people who are high strung
  • Indigestion, ulcers & hernia (literally being eaten up by anger)
  • Coeliac Disease & Intestinal Cancer (a need to swallow disappointment behind a smiling cheerful face)
  • Liver Disease, expressed in many forms such as gout, gall stones, fibroids, alcoholism, tense neck, lock jaw, red eyes, and chronic sprains
  • Travel sickness  (over sensitive people often have this, combined with inner ear issues, and need to shut down their solar plexus)
  • Spleen problems (overload of filtering our options in life, an overwhelmed mind)

Guidelines for Balancing:
—————–

It is said we have 5 days to express our emotions, after which they become chronic and can become a contributing factor in the development of disease.

  • Check where you are holding onto, suppressing or expressing the wrong emotion.  Choose to release it in a positive manner and move on.
  • If you are unable to express them verbally, let it out in a letter never sent, journal, scream in the car, hit a punching bag!
  • Write a CV to God, acknowledging 6 talents that you are proud of, and ask why the divine should employ you.
  • List 3 areas of your life where you achieved something personally challenging and celebrate your accomplishments.
  • Congratulate yourself for being able to say “No”.
  • Do not take on other’s problems.   Learn to give advice only when requested.
  • Learn to receive complements.
  • Become conscious of your victim mentality.   Have the courage to leave behind relationships that encourage it.

Physical Practices:
—————–

  • Yellow is the natural color of this chakra.  Be aware that then this center is overactive, yellow may intensify it.   Bring calm to it by introducing colors of green and pink.
  • Protect your energy here by imagining yourself wearing a white or rainbow colored cloak from the top of your head to underneath your feet.
  • Cross your arms to ward off people who are energy vampires and keep your energy in
  • Carry stones of green & pink to balance it.   Lime green Peridot, Amber or Tiger’s Eye work well.  Or how about the green crystal “Prehnite” for which I am named 🙂
  • Get out in the sun!
  • Meditate with incense of cedar
  • Work with stomach strengthening yoga postures of Bhujangasana (= Cobra), Dhanurasana (= Bow), Navasana (=Boat Pose), Ardha Pada Hastasana (= Leg Lifts)

And lest not forget this chakra is also the seat of money.   It’s  Monday.   No time like the present to ask ourselves what we are doing, and why.   Express our power, so abundance can flow into our lives.   Have a great week everyone!

All is One
Working with Crystals. A powerful day of exploration.
