“For what is the best choice, for each individual, is the highest it is possible for him to achieve.”
~ Aristotle
Well, I’m halfway through my latest book “Optimum Living 360: Smart Decisions for a Balanced Life”. I was hoping for a book that provided instruction on how to be a better decision maker. Instead, I’m holding a book which serves as a litmus test to a higher standard of living.
A very brief Seven Step Decision Making Model, with 2 examples, was given. But the rest of the book is devoted to ways in which we can improve the most important facets of our lives. Not exactly what I was expecting, but it has given me much to consider, as I judge my own life against that which the author believes we should aspire towards. It’s almost like sitting down with a very wise, and compassionate grandfather. The advice is very sound.
And no doubt it’s exactly the book I was needing, for it’s gotten me over the hurdle of procrastinating, or sitting on the fence of non-decision.
As we take the time to compare our own “status quo” with a loftier “status quo” we will begin to question our decisions. Not just “what’s next”, but what can I do to begin to live up to these ideals? Am I living up to my own standards? Are my standards too low? Am I truly being the best person that I can be?
If we shoot for the moon, even if we miss, we’ll land amongst the stars.
Or said in another way: “Aim high. The greatest danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss, but that it is too low, and we reach it. ”
My friend Bridgette gave me a gigantic chuckle yesterday when she made the following post, and said she thought of me ….
Decide what it is you want. (Aim high!)
Write that shit down.
Make a fucking plan.
And …
Work on it.
Every.
Single.
Day.
Enough said 🙂
Have an amazing Sunday everybody!
