“We can’t solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.”
   ~ Albert Einstein

How’s everyone doing this bright Monday morning?  Did anyone besides me spend some time yesterday considering The Six Steps and solidifying your Desire?

I’m a numbers person, and as Spencer sat on the couch watching the Olympics, I sat and reviewed some historical figures and contemplated my budget.  He loving called me a bean counter.  Well, someone’s got to do it.  Until the day that I have more beans than I can count!

Why was I spending time with figures?   As I looked at formalizing my “Desire to Gold Statement”, I almost placed a figure that had popped into my head a while back.   The number felt good, but it was totally random.  As I considered my financial goals, I realized this number was no where near the mark.  I needed a more exact target to hit.  And the only way I know how to do this is through a budget or projected statement of cash flow.

First, we need to clearly identify our expenses, so we know the bottom line we need to cover.   If we don’t know this figure, we are already dead in the water.  What are we aiming for?

As the true number danced before my eyes, my second problem came as I contemplated what I was willing to do to meet my target.

And I think here’s where we need to be careful …

To quote Swami Vivikananda:  “All power is within you; You can do anything and everything.”

“It’s not who you ARE that holds you back, it’s who you think you are NOT.”

Sometime last year, I asked in this blog that we deeply consider our “I AM”.

And yesterday, I was forced to realize that my I AM is not going to cover the magic number.

My I AM asked me to write:  For this $, I will give my best services as a vacation rental provider, as well as web developer and coach.  I’ve spent alot of time considering how this I AM will bridge the gap between my current financial situation and that which I know I am capable of achieving.

I have one more day of reviewing numbers before the number I shoot for will be very clear in my mind.   I decided to leave the occupational services blank open, or in other words, I’m going to use my skills as an Idea Generator and Writer.

I retired from bean counting, made dinner, and went to sit with Spencer and watch the Olympics.

I watched those athletes last night push with persistence.  Laying absolutely everything out there on the line.  Giving it their all, even after stumbles that would cost them the gold.   If those olympians don’t inspire you, I don’t know what will !!   That same fire that spurs them on, when they have nothing left to give, is the same fire that you must develop in order to win.

As I sat there, watching the Olympics, a random event occurred that prompted an idea.   Humm …. This idea, that appeared out of nowhere, could make alot of money.

You must be open to infinite intelligence.   The closer I came to seeing the exact number I need, the fire began to burn.

Ideas are everywhere.

We got a Kuerig coffee maker for Christmas.  There are times I’m a bit appalled by the waste it generates, but oh how I love the convenience.   I wonder if the inventor of that machine was in the coffee business when the idea struck him?

Don’t let your “I’m nots” get in the way of your genius.  The idea that will strike might seem random and maybe a bit weird.  Far-fetched.  Even out of your I AM’s field of expertise.

Great fortunes are filled by meeting the needs of society.   When you find yourself complaining, look around.   Because someone isn’t filling a need, and that need could be easily filled by YOU !!

Off I head this morning to do some research, to see if this idea of mine might pan out … Remember, once you get an idea, act on it immediately!

Have a great week friends.
