“The imagination is the workshop where all plans are created.”
~ Napoleon Hill
Do you feel you have a strong imagination? I sure hope so !!!! Because it you don’t, you aren’t going anywhere fast. But on the bright side, imagination can be developed. Much like any muscle, your imagination will grow the more you use it …
Hill tells us that there are two types of imagination: Synthetic and Creative.
Most ideas will be born through the use of our synthetic imagination. We arrange old concepts, ideas or plans into new combinations. Synthesized imagination doesn’t create anything, it merely works with the materials of experience, education and observation.
Creative imagination, on the other hand, comes from our communion with Infinite Intelligence. The faculty through which “hunches” and “inspirations” are received. It’s through creative imagination that the Amazon’s and Ebays of this world are created.
“Desire is a thought, an impulse: Imagination. It is nebulous and ephemeral. It is abstract, and of no value, until it has transformed into it’s physical counterpart.”
” The moment I put my plan in writing, I will definitely given concrete form to my desire. “
THIS is the reason I love utilizing the web to aid my clients. It coaxes them into taking the thoughts and ideas that exist only in their mind, and gives them shape, form and action!!
Hill gives us two examples of people who took an idea in their head and turned it into gold: The story of Coca-Cola and the story of the Illinois Institute of Technology.
But best of all, I love Hill’s own story. “Millions of people go through life hoping for favorable “breaks”. Perhaps a favorable break can get you an opportunity, but the safest plan is not to depend on luck.”
Because of a “favorable break” Hill received the biggest opportunity of his life through his association with Andrew Carnegie. BUT, it took more than 20 years of determined effort devoted to that opportunity before it became a physical asset in the form of this book !!
“It was no ordinary desire that survived disappointment, discouragement, temporary defeat, criticism and the constant reminding that I was wasting my time. It was a burning desire, an obsession!”
“When the idea for this book was first planted in my mind by Mr. Carnegie, it was coaxed, nursed and enticed to remain alive. Gradually, the idea became a giant under it’s own power, and it coaxed, nursed and drove me.”
“Ideas are like that. First you give life and action and guidance to ideas. Then they take on a power of their own and sweep aside all opposition.”
Yesterday, I shared a wonderful back and forth with a friend and client. She’s determined that she needs a certain amount of money between now and the end of February. In a moment of silence, she heard Infinite Intelligence, and an idea popped into her mind. The funny thing out these types of creative ideas … When we “hear” them, it’s almost like a “thank god”, like we’ve known all along that this is what we should have been doing. The burning desire is already there, self-confidence is assured, and we proceed immediately. She called me to toss around some creative languaging to get her offering out ASAP. It was a blast being “an idea generator” with her, and having the opportunity to exercise my creativity muscle.
