“You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time”.
~ Abraham Lincoln

It’s a spectacular day here in the VI !! We couldn’t have asked for more perfect weather conditions for this holiday weekend. Yesterday, I did photograph the sunrise. But I was too hung over to write after being over-served champagne, and under-exercising my ability to say no  😉

Blogger Liz Strauss is quoted as saying “The Internet has no eraser.” And I had some interesting blogging experiences and lessons over the past few days, some of which I’m tempted to erase. Rule number one, the internet should have a breathalyzer: Don’t get on, when you aren’t in your right mind LOL … But rule number two, is that there will likely be times when what I have to say, people aren’t going to like, and some may even take offense. I care deeply about my audience, but the day that I begin shifting my words and my message and my style of writing to please a particular (likely unknown) person, it’ll be time to put the keyboard away.

Heidi Cohen writes: “Blogging, regardless of whether it’s B2C, B2B, not-for-profit, solopreneur or personal, is more than words on a computer screen. It’s something you feel; ideas you’re compelled to convey to a broader audience in hopes of helping your readers and yourself.”

Steve Jobs reminds us: “Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”

I think finding your own authentic voice is one of the most powerful exercises anyone can make in this lifetime. You have to be pretty fearless to know that what you have to say could and likely will come back to haunt you … But do it anyway!

My voice lies with the teachings of yoga and zen, with the power of choosing a positive mental attitude, with overcoming difficulty and challenges, with compassion and non-killing, and secondarily with the food arts. Some may want to label me plant based, and some may use my work for dieting. But I am vegan. And there is a world of difference between the two.

I hope you’ll consider where your true voice lies. And pick up the pen or keyboard. You’ll learn a lot about yourself. And hopefully spark some meaningful interaction with the readers whom generously offer you their time, like it or not.

Happy Weekend!! (and P.S. Gabby’s home. Very weak, but eating. Hopefully with a bit more rest, she’ll be back to her rambunctious self soon! Thanks again for all of your concern ♥)

There is always hope ....
