“I see skies of blue, and clouds of white … The bright blessed day, dark sacred night … And I think to myself ….. What a wonderful world”
~ Louis Armstrong
Ah yes, I’m feeling back to my chipper self this morning after a day of rest. I was up before my alarm, and am feeling very inspired. And I just can’t keep that song out of my head, even though my skies aren’t very blue …
The first thing I came across on my FB scroll this morning was a quote by Abe Lincoln …
“The best thing about the future is that it comes only one day at a time.”
I chatted with a friend yesterday who asked me what was on my agenda for the day. And I think she was surprised when I said “nothing”. And I truly meant it. My body was tired, my mind filled with clutter, and my emotional body was exhausted from reliving my past. When we stop to listen to what is going on inside, we are able to make informed choices – in the moment – that are always the best decision. Not choices that relate to some future we’ve dreamt up in our head, nor some past that haunts us like a ghost. By taking a badly needed day off, I offered myself loving care yesterday. And it turns out that it will give me the best start at making today the best it can be!
There’s a quote I think about pretty frequently by Lloyd Douglas:
“If a man harbors any sort of fear, it makes him landlord to a ghost.”
Fear arises from dwelling on past and future. So I cleared out the ghosts, and am ready to become present again.
‘You must live in the present. Launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment.”
~ Henry David Thoreau
Yesterday is the past, tomorrow is the future, but today is a gift. That’s why it’s called the present.
And I wish you a wonderful world ❤
