“Joy and sorrow are inseparable. . . Together they come. And when one sits alone with you . . Remember that the other is asleep upon your bed.”
~ Kahlil Gibran

I did not want to get up this morning. While I lay in bed, peaking at the soft color of the dawn through a slit in my eye, and a break in my curtains, I almost threw in the towel. But this is the yoga that my teacher talks about. There has become an attachment, between me, my mat, and my camera, that breaks through this negative voice that lies within each of us. I believe I’ve crossed a major stepping stone.

These mornings are hard, because the sun is up so early now, I don’t have time to really soak it in, to wake up gently. It’s a rude awakening. But I’m ok with it … I’ve been sitting with my coffee after the sunrise, with my eyes closed, almost falling back asleep in the warm sun’s embrace. Until words come …

And for a very split second …. maybe you see it too in the photo … Mother Nature gave me a V. A sign, as if to say … “Don’t give up”!! Spencer came out right then too, and said “Look, a V for Victoria” …

It filled me with such joy. And then to come in and read quotes on Joy, my eyes are filled with tears. How grateful I am to live this life. Pierre Charin quotes “Joy is the infallible sign of the presence of God.” Yes it is …

And Mark Twain says “To get the full value of joy you must have someone to divide it with.” One the books that I had to read for my teacher training is called “How Yoga Works”. And what the young teacher in the book comes to find is that her own yoga can only be seen and fully experienced when it is shared ….

This writing is my yoga. Thank you, each of you who takes the time to read my words, for allowing me to share, for giving me such joy today and always ….

My posts in the months and years to come may not always be with the sunrise. But posting with the sunrise will be getting easier again. And I have a renewed faith that I won’t be quitting anytime soon …

“They say a person needs just three things to be truly happy in this world: someone to love, something to do, and something to hope for.”
~ Tom Bodett
