“May the sun bring you new energy by day, may the moon softly restore you by night, may the rain wash away your worries, may the breeze blow new strength into your being, may you walk gently through the world and know it’s beauty all the days of your life.”
~ Apache Indian Blessing
Through yoga and meditation, I am assured that there lies in me a voice that is common to all. I’ve see it with this blog, how I’m drawn to a certain topic, words just flowing through my mind, soft as a whisper, sometimes not of this mind, onto my keyboard. I write, only then to go over to my blogroll, and see the same message from others over and over.
The great philosopher Alan Watts says that the earth “peoples”. We are like one big lining on Mother Earth’s surface. We vibrate. The energy of the sun and the moon seem to pull at that common vibration.
I had a friend point out yesterday we are in the midst of a solar eclipse, and her post asked if we are experiencing any feelings or issues. When I asked what issues, she replied that “It’s surging Love Energy, bursting heart chakra with the need to take deep slow breaths. Then rolls into feeling sea sick with wooziness in the stomach!” Can you feel this in this mornings photo? I can !!
This morning’s quote made me think of the book “The Vision” by Tom Brown. I read it many years ago, in my mid-20s, and it stands out as one of the most influential on my life. It is a true story about a Native American, who enters into a Vision Quest to mark his movement into manhood. It is a spiritual journey into the wilderness and the soul, a classic account of the relationship between man and nature.
I think how close many Native Americans remain to the land. And how far away and ignorant many Americans are.
What type of shift will need to occur, for our society to begin to place self-care and earth-care before algebra in our school system?
I had a friend ask me how and when I learned self-care. I didn’t have a finite answer. In the weeks ahead, as I spend plenty of time outdoors connected to nature, I’ll be giving it some thought. My meditation teacher had us work with some past life regression. And whether you believe in past lives or not, my own work has shown me that at some point, I was in a beautiful monastery. It’s not a dream, because we all know the difference between dream state and the tangible texture of life, what we know inside as real. So was I born into self-care? When I consider this, it explains alot about who I am, my “nature”.
How about you? What is your nature? Spend some time, connected to the universal vibration, with Mother Nature’s support, and let me know what you hear … ❤
