“You must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment. Fools stand on their island of opportunity and look toward another land. There is no other land, there is no other life, but this.”
~ Henry David Thoreau

I loved watching the sun play on the clouds this morning, with brilliant hues and little rainbows of color. A lone seagull hung out with me, playing above in the light winds. And it gave me a bit of extra time to wake up, as I didn’t get the best night’s sleep. The cat kept waking me up, scratching at the end of the bed, wondering where her most favorite human had gone LOL.

And I love this quote by Thoreau. It speaks to me of the goal-less path. Yesterday, one of my client’s websites got hacked. It was a rookie mistake – the result likely of an easy password. But aren’t all mistakes “rookie” mistakes?

I think of parents with their children. How often have our parents or friends warned us of certain things? But it isn’t until we actually walk that path ourselves, do we understand the lesson. I think life is about learning.

I came upon another inspiring wave quote:

“Change … It’s a short trip from riding the waves of change to being torn apart by the jaws of defeat.”

Instead of looking at the adversity that faces me, I am instead intrigued by the lessons that will come. And I am grateful that this lesson showed up before we had a major audience on the site. No doubt this won’t be our last “mistake” or lesson. If we work from a place of goals and deadlines, change can often create unbearable pressure and frustration. Instead, if we simply look at the path we are headed on, we begin to see hurdles as fun challenges, like a puzzle to be solved.

So today, remember:

“Life is a never ending wave. Your attitude is your surfboard. Stay stoked and aim for the light!”

This too shall pass, with one more lesson to add to my toolbox ♥
