“When you have once seen the glow of happiness on the face of a beloved person, you know that a man can have no other vocation but to awaken that light on the faces surrounding him. In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer.”
~ Albert Camus
What a brilliant sunrise for our friend’s last morning here with us. It’s been an amazing week, with a fine balance between work and play. Sharing sunrises, sharing thoughts over morning facebook time, sharing time in the kitchen and delicious plant-based creations, seeing whales off the deck, sitting on the beach at Maho, discussing life and pondering each of our purposes here on planet earth …
Success is such a wonderful thing to contemplate, as it has a different meaning for each and every one of us. I love the above quote, because it captures my own feelings about success. My self-worth is not defined by whether or not I’ve made someone happy, but knowing that I might be able to use my skills to bring that glow, is a true blessing. Just as Buddha says, happiness never decreases by being shared.
Success isn’t just about what you accomplish in your life, it’s about what you inspire others to do.
Norman Vincent Peale writes: “The more you loose yourself in something bigger than yourself, the more energy you will have.”
I knew at the start of my week, I was working on co-creating something wonderful and authentic with my friend. It’s been a real pleasure seeing the foundation come to realization through our work together.
So I ask today, what does success mean to you? How does it feel for you? I’ve had to make alot of changes to be at a place again where success feels natural, inspired, not driven by economic gain. I encourage you to really dig into this thought. It’s one of the questions that has made a huge impact on my life, and brought much happiness along with it.
TGIF, and here’s to a successful day, on your terms!
