“It really boils down to this: that all life is interrelated. We are all caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied into a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one destiny, affects all indirectly.”
~ Martin Luther King, Jr.
It was another spectacular sunrise this morning. So easy to be tied into the inner-connectiveness, the fabric of life, not wanting to miss a moment of the ever-changing beauty, no distracting thoughts to take me out of the stream of being.
Yesterday, my friend and I spent a number of hours googling for imagery and symbolism to express this connection, our ability to learn and nurture self-care, self-awareness, and self-acceptance. It was an interesting experience. There is so much pain out there in the world, people feeling alone. Happiness being derived from the external, instead of the internal state of oneness, of being.
Albert Schweitzer writes: “We are all so much together, but we are dying of loneliness.” And John Milton: “Loneliness is the first thing which God’s eye named not good.”
How to teach that we are never really alone? That we can be alone, but not lonely?
Brene Browe writes in her book “The Gifts of Imperfection: Let go of who you think you’re supposed to be and embrace who you are”:
“We cultivate love when we allow our most vulnerable and powerful selves to be deeply seen and known, and when we honor the spiritual connection that grows from that offering with trust, respect, kindness and affection. Love is not something we give or get; it is something that we nurture and grow, a connection that can only be cultivated between two people when it exists within each one of them – we can only love others as much as we love ourselves.”
Yes. Self love is the first love, and so many can’t seem to find it. Lots of food for thought. I am grateful for our connection here on Facebook, and I hope you enjoy a wonderfully connected day, filled with self love, to be extended out to others, to all beings ❤
