“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
~ Apple Inc.

As many of you know, I was the Apple dealer to the Virgin Islands from 1995 through mid-2012, when I sold my business. In the late 1990’s we received teeshirts at a dealer conference which had the above quote sprawling across the back. Apple started their Think Different campaign, and we had posters of Einstein, Gandhi, Picasso, Hitchcock and Earhart. There was said to be one of the Dalia Lama that was never issued due to the politically sensitive nature of his message.

Apple held only a small share of the O/S market back then, their handheld Newton was scoffed at, in favor of Palm, and other handheld devices. Yet, I remember how proud I was to wear that tee-shirt, feeling apart from the status quo, empowered by being part of a corporation of artists, with huge visions for changing technology and the world we live in.

I remember them saying that some day, the entire library of congress would be held on media that could be placed in your pocket. That some day, artists would have the ability to market themselves independently. That some day is now.

I feel blessed to have been even just a small part of sharing Apple’s technology with the world. Apple’s technology has changed my life. It allows me to do what I am doing right now.

So today … Think Different. Be the change you wish to see in the world. Go for it
